Plasma ion air purifiers
the alternative to HEPA filters and UV light
Clean air
more efficient, safer, simpler
If you want to ensure clean air in public spaces, you will hardly get past the conventional HEPA filter. Although it can be used quite universally, its disadvantages cannot be overlooked in the long run. No wonder that many operators and owners are now looking for an alternative.
An alternative that we at Airfresh España can offer you with our original plasma ion air purifier .
How conventional systems work
Hepa - High Efficiency Particulate Air
The HEPA filter is based on a very simple principle: air purifiers of this type blow air through a fine mesh to which pollutants such as dust, dust mites, mould, pollen, bacteria and viruses get stuck. This prevents them from spreading further into the room. Hoovers, air conditioners and hair dryers also use this technique to trap particles.
Simple, but not flawless
A major disadvantage of HEPA filters is their high maintenance requirement . After a certain point, the net is no longer able to absorb particles. If the device continues to work despite this, it can no longer clean the air effectively or even causes trapped pests to break loose again and escape into the room. Especially in public spaces, which require a lot of organisational effort, this can affect the well-being of guests, employees and customers in the long run.
At the same time, HEPA filter systems are known for their high noise generation; this can quickly become disturbing.
UV air purifiers
While HEPA systems filter pollutants from the air mechanically, UV air filters destroy them through radiation.
UV radiation is a natural component of sunlight and can be used to eliminate organic substances thanks to its high energy content. It is generated inside the unit, safely shielded from the outside world An electric fan circulates the air in the room, guides it past the UV light where viruses, germs and others are destroyed, and finally releases it back into the room.
Innovative, but not without risk
Although this system does not require a filter, the generation of the UV light is controversial. It is achieved by mercury vapour lamps, and although they don’t require regular replacement, the use of this highly toxic metal is not harmless, especially in case of damage during disposal.
The plasma ion filter
Plasma is the fourth state of matter after liquid, solid and gas. It is created when additional energy is added to a gas by means of high voltage. In nature we see this effect, for example, in the form of lightning or northern lights.
When plasma is formed, ions, free radicals and electrons are created at the same time. These are extremely reactive and particularly effective in combating aerosols – organic suspended matter in the air. If both components meet, the plasma products discharge, release their energy and split these substances into residual substances such as water, oxygen and carbon dioxide.
What happens in nature is simulated in the air purifier: By supplying electricity, the device generates a high voltage between two metal plates and plasma results. Negatively charged oxygen ions are formed and released into the room.
If these ions now meet viruses, bacteria, pollen, germs or similar particles, they split the unwanted substances into harmless components and thus ensure clean breathing air. At the same time, the negative charge binds dust particles together so that they bundle up, sink down and can no longer be inhaled.
Plasma ion air purification from Airfresh España
the advantages
- Instead of only filtering out pests, the system destroys them completely and dissolves them into harmless substances.
- In contrast to HEPA filters and UV light units, the air does not have to pass through the filters and be processed in the unit before it can be purified - it is constantly circulated throughout the room.
- The air purifier reliably removes 99.5% of viruses as well as bacteria, germs and allergens such as pollen. Even bad odours are neutralised. This makes it the perfect solution for a wide variety of locations.
- Since only electricity is needed for cleaning, the system requires neither filters nor regular maintenance. Once installed, it works without further intervention.
- Despite the powerful performance, you benefit from whisper-quiet, interference-free operation, which also allows employees in offices to concentrate on their tasks without getting distracted.
